Your business will evolve with time and new technologies or processes can result in the need to reduce your workforce. This is permissible as long as the correct procedures are followed. You must take certain steps to ensure the redundancy is fair. Consultation is in most cases recommended and there is a statutory requirement that if 20 or more employees are being made redundant then consultation must take place within a 90-day period.
